Fear –
There is always someone willing to hand you a generous dose of fear. Fear of acceptance, fear of knowledge, fear of experience, fear of the unknown outcome of a current project or situation. I would suggest that the broker of such fears is not the person that will help you achieve your goal but is the very person that will hinder progress on every front. Not that you shouldn’t make every effort to pave the way for success, like extensive planning, being informed, and understanding that flexibility is sometimes the only viable avenue to staying on track. ‘Hope for the best and plan for the worst’ is a tired old saying and it puts me in an instant state of melancholy; why would I ever plan on anything crumbling before me?
When the path before me is unfamiliar, uncertain, or overwhelming, I search out those who have the expertise to provide knowledge and guidance where I am lacking. It is my responsibility to absorb what is offered, to be grateful, and to compensate appropriately for what is offered.
My rocky road seems a little smoother if I start my day in conversation to my Father in Heaven, who has promised: “If thou shalt ask, thou shalt receive revelation upon revelation, knowledge upon knowledge, that thou mayest know the mysteries and peaceable things…(D&C 42:61)
