Partaking of the Sacrament is an essential ordinance that takes place often, and for me, it is sometimes difficult to remain focused on the importance of the covenant that I am renewing. I will often review the sacrament hymn that was just sung, or the lyrics of other hymns. The worries of the past week, or the pressures of the coming week, or the commotion of the toddler in the seat in front of you, can open your mind to wander off to worldly cares.
For some period of time, I wrote down thoughts and lines during the administration of the Sacrament, and later, generated a selection of poems. Poems that I could refer to during that quiet time that would help me focus.
